Ekklesia May Dance & Dialogue

Explore societal issues through dance and discussion. Watch a dance performance, then discuss the piece with the choreographer and dancers.

About this Event

Ekklesia Contemporary Ballet Dance and Dialogue’s are a way for people to engage with dance in a whole new way. We use a work from our repertoire that explores central issues that are plaguing our society such as mental illness, climate change, and human inequality. Dance, like all art, provides a bridge to discuss divisive issues that we are currently facing. At each one-hour event we will have four panelist speakers: a community leader who is working for change, a spiritual leader at the forefront of the issue, our theologian in residence, the choreographer of the work, and the dancers.

The audience will have a chance to see the work performed twice, the first before discussion and the second after. We hope this second look after thought and discussion gives us an opportunity to discover ways that we might heal together and take actionable steps towards positive change.
