What Is It ?

Education for Ministry is a program of reading, reflection, and group discussion which leads through the Hebrew Bible and the New Testaments, church history, and Christian theology and ethics. Its purpose is to deepen and enrich our personal faith. The program is organized by the School of Theology at the University of the South at Sewanee (https://theology.sewanee.edu/education-for-ministry/); in the 50 years since its founding EfM has helped more than 120,000 participants become informed, reflective, and articulate seekers of God.

The material surveys the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, Christian history, and Christian theology and ethics. Estimated 2-2 1/2 hours of prep time per week combined with 2 hours of weekly group discussion.
Classic EfM: four years, one year at a time
The material delves more deeply, in four 1-year programs, into the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, Christian history, and Christian theology and ethics. Estimated 4-5 hours of prep time per week combined with 2 hours of weekly group discussion.
