Nearly 50 years ago, Anne Ross, born in 1916, started creating hand-sewn ABC charts to help children learn their alphabet. 18 women would gather in her apartment to sew, stitch and decorate the felt charts. The tradition continues along with the Let’s Count Counting Charts, and now the ladies meet in the Community Room at Holy Trinity every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to sew the charts, trace and glue the letters and numbers, and cut the hand-sewn toys. The House of Talents’ mission is to raise money for the church and the less fortunate. Each year, the group raises between $2,500 and $3,000 for Holy Trinity to use for its outreach projects.
